Short answer: Kling AI has a free Basic plan at $0, but it includes no monthly credit allowance, adds a watermark and doesn’t allow commercial use. Paid plans start at $6.99 for the first month of Standard (660 credits), then $8.80 a month, or $79.20 a year. Pro, Premier and Ultra cost $32.56, $80.96 and $159.99 a month after a first-month discount. Kling estimates 660 credits is about 33 videos at 720p, which works out to roughly 27 cents a video on Standard.

Kling is one of the best AI video generators you can use today, and its own site still has a free plan. But its pricing page shows several prices for every plan: a crossed-out list price, a first-month price, a “then” price and a separate yearly price. It’s easy to think you’ll pay $6.99 a month when you’ll actually pay $8.80 from month two.

I went through Kling’s live membership page, its credit FAQ and its own credit guide, and turned it into plain numbers. If you only want free tools for now, our guide to free image to video AI tools compares Kling’s free plan with nine others.

Kling AI pricing at a glance

These are the individual plans on Kling’s membership page on October 12, 2026, in US dollars.

Plan First month Monthly after that Yearly Credits per month
Basic (free) $0 $0 $0 No monthly allowance
Standard $6.99 $8.80 $79.20 ($6.60/mo) 660
Pro $25.99 $32.56 $293.04 ($24.42/mo) 3,000
Premier $64.99 $80.96 $728.64 ($60.72/mo) 8,000
Ultra $127.99 $159.99 $1,429.99 ($119.17/mo) 26,000

The first-month price is a “first-purchase offer available once”. Kling also shows crossed-out list prices of $10, $37, $92 and $180 a month, which you don’t actually pay on the monthly plans: the renewal price is about 12% below them, and yearly billing is about 34% below them. Kling also sells one-time plans, separate credit packs and Business plans for teams.

Kling 3.0 video with 1080p, 4K and no watermark · From $6.99 first month

Is Kling AI free?

Yes, but with real limits. The Basic plan costs $0 and Kling calls it “free forever”. Here’s what you get and what you don’t:

  • Credits: Kling’s own credit guide lists Basic with “no monthly Credits”. Its FAQ says non-subscribers can claim monthly free credits when they log in, valid for 31 days, and Kling runs promotions that give extra free credits. The amount isn’t published on the pricing page; you see it after signing in.
  • Quality: 1080p and 4K video generation are subscriber benefits.
  • Watermark: brand watermark removal is a paid benefit, so free videos carry Kling’s watermark.
  • Commercial use: Kling’s guide says content made on Basic “is not for commercial use”. You can’t use free videos in ads or client work.
  • Volume: one video per generation, versus up to four on paid plans.

So Kling is free for testing prompts and making a few personal clips. For anything you’ll publish for money, you need a paid plan.

Each plan explained

Every paid plan includes the same core benefits: 1080p and 4K video, no watermark, commercial use, fast-track generation, an unlimited task queue, up to 4 videos per generation, and daily free credits for subscribers. The plans mostly differ in how many credits you get and how cheap each credit is.

Standard: $6.99, then $8.80 a month

  • Credits: 660 a month. Kling estimates that’s about 660 images or 33 videos at 720p.
  • Yearly: $79.20, which works out to $6.60 a month and saves $26.40 compared with monthly.
  • Best for: hobbyists and anyone testing Kling for real projects.

Pro: $25.99, then $32.56 a month

  • Credits: 3,000 a month, or about 150 videos at 720p by Kling’s estimate.
  • Yearly: $293.04 ($24.42 a month), saving $97.68.
  • Extra: priority access to new features.
  • Best for: creators who post AI video every week.

Premier: $64.99, then $80.96 a month

  • Credits: 8,000 a month, or about 400 videos at 720p.
  • Yearly: $728.64 ($60.72 a month), saving $242.88.
  • Best for: freelancers and small teams producing client work.

Ultra: $127.99, then $159.99 a month

  • Credits: 26,000 a month, or about 1,300 videos at 720p.
  • Yearly: $1,429.99 ($119.17 a month), saving $489.89. The yearly Ultra plan also lists early access to Kling 4.0 Flash.
  • Extras: the most elements (500), beta test invites where available, and the cheapest credits on the page.
  • Best for: agencies and heavy daily users.

How Kling credits work

Credits pay for every generation. Kling deducts them based on the model, the number of outputs, the duration and the resolution. Here’s what its FAQ says:

  • Monthly subscription credits are valid for 31 days from the day they’re issued.
  • Purchased credit packs are valid for 2 years, which makes them good for occasional users.
  • Daily bonus credits for subscribers are issued at your first login each day and expire at midnight, local time.
  • Credits that expire soonest are used first, so daily and monthly credits go before purchased ones.
  • Credits alone don’t unlock paid features. Watermark removal and 4K need an active subscription, even if you bought credits.
  • When a subscription ends, unused monthly credits expire. Purchased credits stay usable until their own expiry date.

Here’s what 100 credits cost on each plan:

Plan Monthly (after first month) Yearly
Standard $1.33 $1.00
Pro $1.09 $0.81
Premier $1.01 $0.76
Ultra $0.62 $0.46

The pricing page advertises lower per-credit figures on monthly plans, but those use the one-time first-month price. The column above uses the price you’ll pay from month two.

How much does a Kling video cost?

Kling’s own credit guide estimates 660 credits buys 33 videos at 720p, which is about 20 credits per 720p video. For 4K, Kling lists 30 credits per second, so a 5-second 4K clip is about 150 credits.

Plan 720p videos per month Cost per 720p video (monthly) 5-second 4K clips per month
Standard ~33 ~$0.27 ~4
Pro ~150 ~$0.22 ~20
Premier ~400 ~$0.20 ~53
Ultra ~1,300 ~$0.12 ~173

These are estimates. The real cost depends on the model, the clip length (Kling 3.0 makes 3 to 15 seconds), native audio, Multi-Shot and how many outputs you ask for. Kling’s own advice is to run a short test generation before you scale a project, and to budget for retries. AI video rarely comes out right on the first attempt, so plan for two or three tries per finished clip.

Tip: draft at 720p and only render the final version at 1080p or 4K. 4K at 30 credits a second burns through a Standard plan in four clips.

How to use Kling AI image to video

Image to video is Kling’s most popular feature: you upload a photo and Kling animates it. Here’s the basic workflow on the website:

  1. Sign in at kling.ai and open the video generator.
  2. Choose image to video and upload your photo. A clear, well-lit image with one main subject gives the most stable results.
  3. Describe the motion in the prompt: what moves, how the camera moves and the mood. For example, “slow push-in, hair moving in the wind, soft evening light”.
  4. Pick the settings: model, resolution, clip length and number of outputs. Each choice changes the credit cost, and the cost appears before you generate.
  5. Generate and review. If the motion is off, adjust the prompt rather than regenerating the same one.

On the free plan, image to video works at the lower resolution with a watermark. For 1080p, 4K and watermark-free downloads, you need a paid plan. Kling also offers related tools such as start and end frame control, Elements for recurring characters and products, and motion control.

Free trials, referral codes and discounts

  • First-month discount: about 30% off the first month of any monthly plan, once per account.
  • Yearly billing: 34% off the list price, the biggest saving on the page.
  • Referral codes: the membership page has a box to “enter a referral code to upgrade +10%”. Kling doesn’t publish an official public code.
  • Free trial: Kling’s FAQ mentions 7-day trial credits and a 7-day pass, but neither is offered as a standard plan on the pricing page. Look out for them as promotions in your account.
  • Promotional credits: Kling occasionally runs campaigns that give free credits to new and existing users.

Cancelling your Kling subscription

All subscriptions auto-renew. Kling’s FAQ lists three ways to cancel, depending on where you subscribed:

  • Website: Profile, then Manage Plan, then Cancel Subscription.
  • iPhone: Settings, your Apple ID, Subscriptions, then Kling.
  • Android: Google Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, then Kling.

The pricing page and FAQ don’t describe a refund window, so treat payments as final and read the refund section of Kling’s terms of service before you buy a yearly plan. When your subscription ends, unused monthly credits expire.

Which Kling plan should you buy?

  • Just curious: stay on the free Basic plan and claim the free credits.
  • Testing for real projects: Standard monthly. $6.99 for the first month gets you watermark-free 1080p and commercial use. Cancel before month two if it’s not for you.
  • Posting every week: Pro yearly ($24.42 a month) for about 150 videos a month.
  • Agency or heavy use: Ultra. Its credits cost less than half of Standard’s.
  • Light, irregular use: credit packs, because purchased credits last 2 years. Remember that watermark removal and 4K still need a subscription.

Kling direct or through Higgsfield?

You can also use Kling 3.0 inside Higgsfield, which bundles Kling with Veo 3.1, Sora 2, Seedance, Wan and Hailuo in one plan. The cost per Kling clip is similar: about $0.24 for a 5-second 720p Kling 3.0 clip on Higgsfield’s $10 Lite plan, versus about $0.27 per 720p video on Kling Standard monthly.

  • Go direct to Kling if Kling is the only model you need, or if you want Kling-only features such as Elements and the newest Kling models first.
  • Choose Higgsfield if you want to switch between several models without separate subscriptions. Its Pro and Max plans also include 7-day unlimited Kling 3.0 windows. See our Higgsfield AI pricing guide for the numbers.

The bottom line

Kling AI pricing starts free, but the free Basic plan is for testing only: watermark, lower resolution and no commercial use. The real starting point is Standard at $6.99 for the first month and $8.80 after that, for about 33 videos at 720p. Yearly billing cuts every plan by 34%, and Ultra has by far the cheapest credits if you make video every day.
