AI Video & Image · Pricing & Review
Short answer: OpenArt gives new accounts a set of free credits, then charges by subscription. Starter is $14 a month for 4,000 credits, Plus is $34 for 12,000, Pro is $56 for 24,000 and Wonder is $240 for 106,000. Annual billing lowers that to $13, $27, $44 and $175 a month. OpenArt estimates its credits cover about one image per credit or one video per 80 credits, so a video costs roughly 15 to 28 cents. The big catches: monthly credits don’t roll over, and OpenArt doesn’t give refunds.
OpenArt started as an AI art generator and has grown into an all-in-one studio: more than 100 image, video and audio models, consistent characters, one-click stories and a video editor called Director, all on one credit balance. That makes it one of the most flexible creative tools around, and one of the hardest to price, because every model spends credits at a different rate.
I went through OpenArt’s live pricing page, its help center and its Trustpilot reviews (over 1,500 of them) to work out what you’ll really pay and whether it’s worth it. If you mainly want to turn photos into videos for free, start with our comparison of free image to video AI tools.

OpenArt pricing at a glance
These are OpenArt’s individual plans on October 14, 2026, in US dollars. Prices are per seat.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Credits per month | OpenArt’s estimate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $14 | $13 | 4,000 | ~4,000 images or ~50 videos |
| Plus | $34 | $27 | 12,000 | ~12,000 images or ~150 videos |
| Pro | $56 | $44 | 24,000 | ~24,000 images or ~300 videos |
| Wonder | $240 | $175 | 106,000 | ~106,000 images or ~1,300 videos |
Video estimates exclude Director, OpenArt’s multi-shot video tool, which uses more credits. New users also get a first-month discount on monthly plans: when I checked, it was 15% off Plus ($29), 20% off Pro ($45) and 25% off Wonder ($180) for the first month only. Annual billing saves up to 27%. OpenArt also sells Business plans for teams.
Is OpenArt free?
You can start for free. OpenArt’s help center says new accounts “automatically receive a set of free credits to get started”. The exact amount isn’t listed on the pricing page, so treat it as a trial to test the interface and a few models, not an ongoing free plan.
Paid plans are where the real features are. Every paid plan lists commercial use rights, watermark-free downloads, access to 100+ premium models, Director, the image editing suite and the OpenArt MCP. If you need ongoing free video generation, tools such as PixVerse (30 credits a day) and Google Vids (6 clips a month) are better options; our free image to video AI guide compares them.
Each plan explained
Starter: $14 a month ($13 annual)
- Credits: 4,000 a month, about 50 videos or 4,000 images.
- Includes: all 100+ premium models, Director, OpenArt MCP, about 13 consistent characters, about 5 one-click stories, 13 personalized models and 8 parallel generations.
- Missing: you can’t buy extra credit add-ons on Starter.
- Best for: trying OpenArt properly for a month.
Plus: $34 a month ($27 annual)
- Credits: 12,000 a month, about 150 videos.
- Includes: everything in Starter, about 40 consistent characters, 17 one-click stories, 16 parallel generations, a 10% discount on MCP generations, and the option to add credits.
- Best for: regular creators. It’s the cheapest plan that lets you top up.
Pro: $56 a month ($44 annual)
- Credits: 24,000 a month, about 300 videos.
- Includes: everything in Plus, about 80 consistent characters, 34 one-click stories, 32 parallel generations, model discounts (when I checked: 30% off Nano Banana 2.1, 10% off Seedance 2.5, 50% off Seedance 2.0 mini and fast) and access to unlimited-generation promotions.
- Best for: people making AI video every day. OpenArt labels it “most popular”.
Wonder: $240 a month ($175 annual)
- Credits: 106,000 a month, about 1,300 videos.
- Includes: everything in Pro, about 353 consistent characters, 150 one-click stories, priority support, bigger model discounts (20% off Seedance 2.5 when I checked) and the widest unlimited-generation offers.
- Best for: agencies and studios.
How OpenArt credits work
- Monthly credits don’t roll over. They reset every 30 days, and anything unused is lost. This applies to annual plans too: you get a fresh monthly allowance, not a yearly pot.
- Add-on credits do roll over. Extra credits you buy on top of Plus, Pro or Wonder ($15 a month per 5,000 credits) carry into the next month while your plan is active.
- Upgrading gives you the new plan’s credits straight away, and you pay the pro-rated difference.
- Downgrading or cancelling takes effect at the next billing cycle. Paid credits are lost when the current cycle ends, and add-ons are cancelled too.
Here’s what 100 credits cost on each plan:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 35¢ | 33¢ |
| Plus | 28¢ | 23¢ |
| Pro | 23¢ | 18¢ |
| Wonder | 23¢ | 17¢ |
What a video or image really costs
OpenArt’s own estimates work out to about 80 credits per video (outside Director) and about 1 credit per image. That gives these rough costs:
| Plan | Cost per video (monthly) | Cost per video (annual) | Videos per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ~$0.28 | ~$0.26 | ~50 |
| Plus | ~$0.23 | ~$0.18 | ~150 |
| Pro | ~$0.19 | ~$0.15 | ~300 |
| Wonder | ~$0.18 | ~$0.13 | ~1,300 |
Treat these as best-case numbers. Premium models such as Veo, Sora or Seedance at 1080p cost far more per clip than a budget model, and failed or retried generations still use credits. Credit use is the number one complaint in OpenArt’s reviews, so start on a monthly plan and watch your balance for a week before committing to a year.
Unlimited generation and add-ons
OpenArt advertises “unlimited” generation, but its FAQ explains the limits:
- It’s available only on Pro and Wonder, and only on select models for set promotion periods listed on the pricing page.
- When I checked, the offers included unlimited Flux 3 720p video on Wonder until October 31, and 30% off Nano Banana 2.1 for 7 days (Pro) or 14 days (Wonder) for upgrades by October 14.
- It doesn’t apply to generations through the MCP or CLI.
- Heavy users can be moved to a slower queue. You can switch unlimited off to get normal speed back, using credits.
Add-ons are monthly bundles of 5,000 extra credits for $15, available on Plus and above. Unlike plan credits, unused add-on credits roll over while you stay subscribed.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel anytime from your account’s subscription settings. OpenArt recommends cancelling at least five days before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. A monthly plan ends after the current month, and an annual plan ends after the current year.
OpenArt doesn’t give refunds. Its help center says “our policy does not allow refunds” and that its strict cancellation policy applies even if you’re unsatisfied. That’s stricter than Higgsfield, which refunds unused first purchases within 7 days. It’s the main reason to start monthly, not annually.
OpenArt review: what users say
OpenArt has a 3.7 out of 5 TrustScore on Trustpilot from more than 1,500 reviews when I checked. Reviews there aren’t verified, but the same themes come up again and again.
What people like
- A huge choice of models in one place, from image generators to the latest video models.
- Easy to use, even for beginners.
- Strong results for consistent characters, stories and music videos when generations work.
Common complaints
- Credits run out faster than expected, especially with Director and premium video models.
- Failed or unusable generations still cost credits.
- Slow customer support replies.
- Billing frustrations: renewals people didn’t expect, and no refunds.
Is OpenArt legit? Yes. It’s an established platform with a long track record, published pricing and an active help center. The complaints are about cost and support, not about it being a scam.
Verdict: OpenArt is worth it if you want one place for images, characters, stories and video, and you’ll use a wide mix of models. It’s less good value if you only want video from one model, and the no-refund policy means you should test it on a monthly plan first.
Which OpenArt plan should you buy?
- Trying it out: use the free starter credits, then Starter monthly ($14).
- Creating every week: Plus. Three times Starter’s credits for about 2.4 times the price, plus the option to buy add-ons.
- Daily video work: Pro, for 300 videos a month, model discounts and unlimited promotions.
- Agency or studio: Wonder annual, the lowest cost per credit.
- Not sure you’ll stick with it: stay monthly. There are no refunds on annual plans.
OpenArt vs Higgsfield and Kling
- Higgsfield starts lower ($10 a month on its Lite plan) and is focused on video models such as Kling, Veo, Sora and Seedance. It publishes a per-model credit table and refunds unused first purchases within 7 days. Read our Higgsfield AI pricing guide.
- Kling is cheaper if Kling is the only video model you need: $6.99 for the first month, then $8.80. See our Kling AI pricing guide.
- OpenArt wins when you also need images, consistent characters and stories, not just video.
The bottom line
OpenArt pricing runs from $14 a month (Starter, 4,000 credits) to $240 a month (Wonder, 106,000 credits), with up to 27% off on annual billing. New users get free credits to test it, but monthly credits don’t roll over and there are no refunds. Start on a monthly plan, watch how fast you spend credits, and only then move to annual.
